The Tapejara-X, a tamable, flying, carnivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended, is a common sight across multiple maps. It belongs to the Variant category.
The Tapejara-X has 315 base Health - decently sturdy. Dealing 105% base Melee Damage, the Tapejara-X brings decent hitting power to the table. With 250 base Stamina, the Tapejara-X has moderate endurance. It carries 280 base Weight - good carrying capacity.
You'll need to knock the Tapejara-X unconscious before taming it. Tranquilizers are the standard approach. Feed it Superior Kibble for the fastest tame and highest effectiveness bonus.
Once tamed, the Tapejara-X is a versatile flyer useful for scouting, traversal, and light transport. It reproduces by laying eggs, which must be incubated between 29°C and 32°C. Defeating one in the wild grants 3 base XP. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.67 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
The Tapejara-X's growth progresses through three stages: Baby (0–10%) lasts ~327 min and requires constant hand-feeding. Juvenile (10–50%) spans ~22h - it can eat from a Trough now. Adolescent (50–100%) takes ~27h - continues eating from troughs, nearly fully grown.
Imprinting during maturation provides permanent stat bonuses. At 100% imprint, the Tapejara-X gains 30% bonus damage and resistance when ridden by the imprinter. Keep various kibble types on hand, as imprint requests are randomized between cuddles, walks, and kibble feeding.
Breeding the Tapejara-X produces fertilized eggs that require careful temperature control. Incubation temperature must stay between 29°C and 32°C - use Air Conditioners, Standing Torches, or Dimetrodons to maintain the range. At the correct temperature, the egg hatches in approximately 1 hour and 39 minutes.
The baby Tapejara-X takes approximately 2 days and 6 hours to fully mature at default rates - requiring significant patience. The most labor-intensive part is the baby phase (0–10% maturation) when it can't use a Feeding Trough yet.
Each baby inherits stats from both parents with a chance of mutation - +2 wild levels to a random stat plus a color change. Use the breeding calculator to plan food requirements, incubation timers, and maturation phases.
The raising calculator above shows exactly how much food you need for each maturation phase of the Tapejara-X. Expect ~327 minutes of active care during the Baby phase before it graduates to trough-feeding as a Juvenile.
The multiplier feature helps plan large-scale Tapejara-X raises by totaling food across all babies. Different food types have different spoil timers - factor that into which food you stockpile.
