A Shadowmane only accepts food while it is asleep on its own, so approach it stealthily in a Ghillie Suit or after drinking Cactus Broth, and give it a Filled Fish Basket. Waking it ends the attempt. The species and level of the trapped fish make no difference at all. Only its size does, and it decides everything: a fish at 1.95x or larger costs no effectiveness whatever, so a run of maximum-size fish tames perfectly no matter how many it takes, while anything smaller bleeds effectiveness on every single feed. Fish under 0.5x are refused outright. Sizes shown in game are rounded, so a fish listed as 1.5x might really be anywhere from 1.45 to 1.54. Bring spares.
How this tame works
No knockoutFish below 0.45x are refused. At 1.95x and above every fish is worth the most it can be.
- At 1.95x the fish costs no effectiveness at all, so this run tames at full value however many it takes.
- You have about 50 seconds between fish before feeds start losing value.
- It only accepts fish while it is asleep on its own. Waking it ends the attempt.
