Variant
The X-Sabertooth is a carnivore variant of the Sabertooth, modified with biome-specific traits from Genesis: Part 1. It features a compact build and a slight melee damage increase, making it effective in close combat. This creature excels as a mobile predator for hunting or light defense. It can be airlifted by Argentavis, Karkinos, Megalosaurus, Quetzal, or Tusoteuthis for rapid deployment.
Players typically tame the X-Sabertooth for fast takedowns in mid-tier combat scenarios where agility and burst damage matter.
X-Sabertooth does not currently spawn on any ARK: Survival Ascended map, or spawn data is not yet available.
The X-Sabertooth must be knocked out before taming. Use a Bola, Bear Trap, or Plant Species Y to immobilize it. The best food is Regular Kibble, which provides the fastest taming. Raw Mutton also works well if kibble is unavailable. Use ranged weapons like the Bow, Crossbow, or Fabricated Sniper Rifle with Tranq Arrows or Tranquilizer Darts to knock it out safely. The process takes about 22 minutes with 7 units of Regular Kibble. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Killing the X-Sabertooth yields Hide, Raw Meat, and Keratin. The Hatchet harvests the most Hide and Keratin, while the Pick maximizes Raw Meat yield.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
The X-Sabertooth has a +120% weakness to Instant HurtDinos, making it highly vulnerable to certain environmental hazards. It also takes +100% more damage from spike walls, making these highly effective in defense. Conversely, it is fully immune to Mining Drill Harvest damage. It resists ranged turret fire and projectile-based attacks by 50%. Level Health and Melee Damage for combat viability.
