Variant
Full maturation from baby to adult takes ~3 days and 20 hours (1x rate), progressing over an extremely long period, one of the longest in the game. Hand-feeding is required until 10% maturation. After that, a Feeding Trough handles the rest.
Each baby inherits stats from both parents with a chance of mutation - +2 wild levels to a random stat plus a color change. Use the breeding calculator to plan food requirements, incubation timers, and maturation phases.
The VR Ferox's growth progresses through three stages: Baby (0–10%) lasts ~556 min and requires constant hand-feeding. Juvenile (10–50%) spans ~37h - it can eat from a Trough now. Adolescent (50–100%) takes ~46h - continues eating from troughs, nearly fully grown.
Imprinting during maturation provides permanent stat bonuses. At 100% imprint, the VR Ferox gains 30% bonus damage and resistance when ridden by the imprinter. Keep various kibble types on hand, as imprint requests are randomized between cuddles, walks, and kibble feeding.

The raising calculator above shows exactly how much food you need for each maturation phase of the VR Ferox. Budget ~556 minutes for the Baby phase - this is when hand-feeding or Maewing nursing is mandatory.
Raising multiple VR Ferox simultaneously? Set the dino count and the calculator scales food requirements automatically. Different food types have different spoil timers - factor that into which food you stockpile.

During the Baby phase (0-10%), you must hand-feed or use a Maewing to nurse. From Juvenile (10%+), dinos can eat from a Feeding Trough on their own. Use Preserving Salt in troughs to double spoil times.
ARK: Survival Ascended features the VR Ferox as a tamable, carnivore creature that survivors will encounter in the wild. Classified under the Variant group.
Health-wise, the VR Ferox sits at 1,100 base, making it solidly tanky. Its base Melee Damage sits at 100%, giving it respectable melee power. With 1000 base Stamina, the VR Ferox has massive stamina reserves. A base Weight of 350 means good carrying capacity.
To tame the VR Ferox, you need to knock it unconscious using torpor weapons, then feed it while it's down. Simple Kibble is the most effective food for taming, offering the highest affinity per feeding.
As a tame, the VR Ferox fills a general-purpose role, adaptable to whatever your tribe currently needs. Defeating one in the wild grants 3 base XP. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.23 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
