The Triceratops is a large herbivore that serves as a Soaker. It excels at gathering a wide variety of plant-based resources quickly while being ridden. Its primary use is for efficient, mobile farming of Berries, Fiber, Wood, and Seeds across diverse biomes. It can be airlifted by Quetzal or Tusoteuthis for fast deployment to remote areas.
This dino is commonly used to automate resource collection without the need for structures or harvesters.
Triceratops spawns in Beach, City, Dark Zone, Forest, Grassland, Jungle, Snow, and Wasteland biomes. It is very common and appears across 21 ARK maps. Look for green zones on the spawn map for the highest density areas.

Triceratops must be knocked out before taming. Use a Chain Bola, Bear Trap, or Large Bear Trap to immobilize it. Then apply sedation using Tranq Arrows from a Bow or Crossbow, or Tranquilizer Dart from a Longneck Rifle. The best food is Simple Kibble. Mejoberry also works if kibble is unavailable. The tame takes about 16 Simple Kibble and lasts around 20 minutes with no Narcotics needed. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Killing a Triceratops yields Hide, Raw Meat, and Keratin. The Hatchet yields the most Hide and Keratin, while the Pick is best for Raw Meat.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
While mounted, Triceratops gathers using its Attack 1 and Ram abilities. Attack 1 harvests Berries, Fiber, Mushrooms, Rare Flowers, Seeds, and Wood. It provides a 10× yield on resources like Mejoberry, Narcoberry, Stimberry, Rare Flower, and Wood. It also gathers Cactus Sap and Fiber at 8×. The Ram attack does not gather resources.
Triceratops has a strong resistance to fire, taking -60% damage from fire-based attacks. It is highly vulnerable to Instant HurtDinos and SpikeWall damage, taking +120% and +100% more damage respectively. This makes it fragile in automated defense setups using spike walls. Level Health and Melee Damage.

The head has a damage multiplier of 0.15x, making it highly resistant to headshots. Target the body for consistent torpor gain during knockout taming.

Numbers reflect base melee at level 1, 100% TE, no imprint. The damage calculator lets you scale by melee %, server multipliers, and pick a specific structure for exact hit counts.
Attack 1 gathers most plant resources at a 10× multiplier, making it one of the fastest mobile plant harvesters. It harvests Mejoberry, Narcoberry, and Stimberry at peak efficiency. The 8× yield on Cactus Sap and Fiber supports early-game resource needs. It can be carried by Quetzal for fast travel to remote farms. Its vulnerability to spike walls makes it risky to use in automated defenses. Use non-fire turrets when protecting it.
