Phiomia
To tame the Phiomia, you need to knock it unconscious first. Tranq Arrows, Tranq Darts, and Shocking Tranq Darts all work. The Phiomia loses Torpor at 0.1 per second while unconscious - stay on top of narcotics.
| Food | Food Quantity (Current/Max) | Taming Time | Effectiveness |
|---|---|---|---|
Basic Kibble | 4:33 | 74 Lvl (224) 99.8% | |
Archelon Algae | 5:20 | 74 Lvl (224) 98.77% | |
Crops | 21:20 | 62 Lvl (212) 83.32% | |
Mejoberry | 21:18 | 55 Lvl (205) 73.77% | |
Berries | 21:16 | 41 Lvl (191) 55.59% |
Check the taming results to see how long it takes to tame the Phiomia, what effectiveness you'll achieve, and how many bonus levels it gains. Better food means better results.
The table shows how many sedatives you'll need to keep the Phiomia unconscious through the full taming duration. Bio Toxin is twice as potent as Narcotics (80 vs 40 Torpor per use), while Narcoberries work in a pinch at just 7.5 Torpor each. At 0.1 Torpor drain per second, apply narcotics proactively - a wakeup mid-tame wastes everything.
Use the torpor and starve timers to track your Phiomia tame in real time. Torpor monitoring prevents premature wakeups. The starve timer is for the starve-tame method - let Food drop, then load all kibble at once to avoid waste.

Estimated time until optimal feeding point: 4m 33s

Found throughout the ARKs, the Phiomia is a tamable, herbivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended. It belongs to the Farmer category.
At 300 base HP, the Phiomia is reasonably durable. With 100% base Melee Damage, the Phiomia has solid damage output. With 300 base Stamina, the Phiomia has moderate endurance. A base Weight of 200 means a reasonable inventory size.
You'll need to knock the Phiomia unconscious before taming it. Tranquilizers are the standard approach. Feed it Basic Kibble for the fastest tame and highest effectiveness bonus.
After taming, the Phiomia is primarily used for resource harvesting, excelling at gathering specific materials. Breeding is via live birth rather than eggs, simplifying the process. A wild Phiomia is worth 1 base experience when killed. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.47 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
The table below shows how many hits from each torpor weapon are needed to knock out the Phiomia at different levels. Wait between shots for torpor to tick up. Firing too fast can kill the creature before it goes down.
To simplify the knockout, immobilize the Phiomia first with Bola or Bear Trap. Alternatively, use a Karkinos to airlift it into a pre-built trap.
