The Parasaur is a small herbivore with a support role. It gathers a wide variety of plant-based resources efficiently while being ridden. Its AlertPulse ability reveals nearby creatures and resources on the map. It can be airlifted by Argentavis or Karkinos for fast deployment.
Players typically tame the Parasaur early for reliable gathering and scouting utility in low-risk zones.
Parasaur spawns on 22 ARK maps, appearing across biomes like beaches, forests, grasslands, jungles, snowy regions, chalk hills, and cities. It is very commonly encountered. Look for green zones on the spawn map for the highest density.

Parasaur must be knocked out before taming. Use a Bola, Bear Trap, or Plant Species Y to immobilize it. Tranq Arrows from a Bow or Crossbow are effective for sedation. Basic Kibble is the best food. Mejoberry also works well. About 8 Basic Kibble are needed. The tame takes around 7 minutes. No Narcotics are needed. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Killing a Parasaur yields Hide and Raw Meat. The Hatchet yields the most Hide, while the Pick favours Raw Meat.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
While ridden, the Parasaur's melee attack gathers Berries, Seeds, Mushrooms, Rare Flowers, Rare Mushrooms, Cactus Sap, Fiber, and Wood. It harvests at 10× efficiency from most berries and seeds, including Mejoberry, Narcoberry, and Stimberry. It also gathers Wood at 10× and Cactus Sap and Fiber at 8×. The AlertPulse ability does not gather resources.
