Taming the Maeguana requires applying enough torpor to knock it out. Use tranquilizer projectiles, then place food in its inventory. Once unconscious, Torpor drains at 0.1/s, so keep Narcotics or Bio Toxin ready.

The results below show total taming time, effectiveness, and bonus levels for the Maeguana at your selected level and food. Higher-quality foods yield more bonus levels.
Use the narcotic calculator to determine exactly how many Narcotics, Bio Toxin, or Narcoberries you need for the Maeguana. Narcotics provide 40 Torpor each and are the standard choice. Bio Toxin offers 80 Torpor but is harder to farm. Narcoberries at 7.5 each are a last resort. At 0.1 Torpor drain per second, apply narcotics proactively - a wakeup mid-tame wastes everything.
Use the torpor and starve timers to track your Maeguana tame in real time. Starve taming is recommended for valuable high-level Maeguana: let the Food stat deplete first, then add food. This way nothing is wasted if something goes wrong.
The Maeguana, a tamable, omnivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended, is a notable presence across multiple maps. It falls within the Breeding classification.
Health-wise, the Maeguana sits at 700 base, making it solidly tanky. With 100% base Melee Damage, the Maeguana has decent hitting power. With 450 base Stamina, the Maeguana has solid stamina reserves. Weight capacity starts at 400, giving it good carrying capacity.
You'll need to knock the Maeguana unconscious before taming it. Tranquilizers are the standard approach. Basic Kibble is the most effective food for taming, offering the highest affinity per feeding.
After taming, the Maeguana is valued for its harvesting efficiency, collecting key resources faster than most tools. It reproduces by laying eggs, which must be incubated between 24°C and 28°C. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.31 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
Use the knockout chart to see exactly how many Tranq Arrows, Darts, or other torpor weapons it takes to down the Maeguana. Wait between shots for torpor to tick up. Firing too fast can kill the creature before it goes down.
To simplify the knockout, immobilize the Maeguana first with Chain Bola or Bear Trap. Alternatively, use a Quetzal to airlift it into a pre-built trap.
