Iguanodon
Knock the Iguanodon unconscious using your preferred torpor weapon, then feed it to begin the taming process. Once unconscious, Torpor drains at 0.1/s, so keep Narcotics or Bio Toxin ready.
| Food | Food Quantity (Current/Max) | Taming Time | Effectiveness |
|---|---|---|---|
Simple Kibble | 6:50 | 74 Lvl (224) 99.9% | |
Archelon Algae | 7:36 | 74 Lvl (224) 99.41% | |
Crops | 30:00 | 68 Lvl (218) 91.42% | |
Mejoberry | 30:00 | 64 Lvl (214) 85.7% | |
Berries | 29:48 | 54 Lvl (204) 72.82% | |
Stimberry | 7:26:15 | 0 Lvl (150) 0.67% | |
Sweet Vegetable Cake | 9:55:00 | 0 Lvl (150) 0.67% |
The results below show total taming time, effectiveness, and bonus levels for the Iguanodon at your selected level and food. Higher-quality foods yield more bonus levels.
The table shows how many sedatives you'll need to keep the Iguanodon unconscious through the full taming duration. Bio Toxin is twice as potent as Narcotics (80 vs 40 Torpor per use), while Narcoberries work in a pinch at just 7.5 Torpor each. At 0.1 Torpor drain per second, apply narcotics proactively - a wakeup mid-tame wastes everything.
Track the taming process with the timers below - they monitor both Torpor and starvation progress. Torpor monitoring prevents premature wakeups. The starve timer is for the starve-tame method - let Food drop, then load all kibble at once to avoid waste.
ARK: Survival Ascended features the Iguanodon as a tamable, herbivore creature that survivors will encounter in the wild. It falls within the Misc classification.
With 250 base Health, the Iguanodon is on the squishy side. Its base Melee Damage sits at 100%, giving it solid damage output. Its base Stamina of 200 gives it decent staying power. A base Weight of 375 means a solid weight pool.
To tame the Iguanodon, you need to knock it unconscious using torpor weapons, then feed it while it's down. Feed it Simple Kibble for the fastest tame and highest effectiveness bonus.
After taming, the Iguanodon earns its keep through resource gathering, making tedious farming runs much faster. Breeding produces fertilized eggs that hatch within a 24°C–28°C temperature window. A wild Iguanodon is worth 1 base experience when killed. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.32 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.

Estimated time until optimal feeding point: 6m 50s
Food to consume through starvation: 682
Target food level: 5618
Use the knockout chart to see exactly how many Tranq Arrows, Darts, or other torpor weapons it takes to down the Iguanodon. Wait between shots for torpor to tick up. Firing too fast can kill the creature before it goes down.
To simplify the knockout, immobilize the Iguanodon first with Bola or Bear Trap. A Argentavis can also pick it up and drop it into a taming pen for a controlled knockout.
