The Gigantoraptor is a medium-sized omnivore known for its unique breeding capabilities. It uses a special passive taming method centered around mimicking a baby's actions at a nest. This dino excels in breeding strategies due to its egg-laying mechanics and fast maturation. It can be airlifted by Quetzal or Tusoteuthis for rapid transport across regions.
Players typically tame the Gigantoraptor to optimize egg farming and imprinting workflows in breeding setups.
Gigantoraptor spawns commonly in forest, jungle, and city biomes. It appears across 20 ARK maps, making it widely accessible. The green zones on the spawn map indicate the highest density of sightings, aiding efficient scouting.

Taming a Gigantoraptor requires the special passive method. Find a nest with an adult and baby. Distract the parent using fertilized eggs, then enter the nest and mimic the baby's actions—spinning, bowing, or flapping—within 2–3 seconds. Failing resets progress. Keep the parent alive or the tame fails. Use the Chain Bola, Bear Trap, or Large Bear Trap to immobilize it safely during the process.
To tame a Gigantoraptor, find a nest with an adult and baby. Distract the parent by throwing fertilized eggs at it, then hide in the nest with the baby. The baby will perform actions (spinning, bowing, flapping) — mimic the same action within 2-3 seconds to advance taming. Failing reduces progress. Keep the parent alive or the tame fails.
Killing a Gigantoraptor yields Hide, Raw Meat, and Raw Prime Meat. The Hatchet yields the most Hide, while the Pick favors Raw Meat and Raw Prime Meat.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
While ridden, the Gigantoraptor's Kick attack harvests a wide variety of resources. It gathers 10× Berries, Crop Seeds, Mejoberry, Mejoberry Seed, Mushroom, Narcoberry, Narcoberry Seed, Plant Species X Seed, Plant Species Y Seed, Rare Flower, Rare Mushroom, Stimberry, Stimberry Seed, and Wood. It also gathers 8× Cactus Sap and Fiber. The Call ability has no gathering function.
Gigantoraptor takes +200% damage from spike walls, making it extremely vulnerable to defensive setups using them. It is also weak to explosions, taking +50% more damage. However, it is highly resistant to mining drills, taking -100% damage, and resists ranged turrets and melee attacks with impact effects by -50%.
