Direwolf Egg & Breeding Calculator

The Direwolf gives live birth after mating, skipping the egg-incubation step entirely. Gestation takes approximately 4 hours and 12 minutes at default rates.

The baby Direwolf takes approximately 2 days to fully mature at default rates - over a lengthy period. The most labor-intensive part is the baby phase (0–10% maturation) when it can't use a Feeding Trough yet.

Each baby inherits stats from both parents with a chance of mutation - +2 wild levels to a random stat plus a color change. Use the breeding calculator to plan food requirements, incubation timers, and maturation phases.

The dinosaur reaches the adolescent stage, becoming more independent and able to follow you while continuing to grow toward full maturity.

The Direwolf's growth progresses through three stages: Baby (0–10%) lasts ~292 min and requires constant hand-feeding. Juvenile (10–50%) spans ~19h - it can eat from a Trough now. Adolescent (50–100%) takes ~24h - continues eating from troughs, nearly fully grown.

Imprint bonuses are significant: a fully imprinted Direwolf gains 30% extra damage and damage resistance with its imprinter mounted. Imprint requests include cuddling, walks, and specific kibble - check the wiki for which kibble to stockpile.

Use the raising calculator to plan food requirements for raising Direwolf babies through all three growth stages. The Baby phase (0–10%) takes ~292 minutes and is the most hands-on, requiring direct feeding or a Maewing.

The multiplier feature helps plan large-scale Direwolf raises by totaling food across all babies. Consider food spoilage when choosing what to feed: Kibble lasts days, while Raw Meat spoils in minutes.

During the Baby phase (0-10%), you must hand-feed or use a Maewing to nurse. From Juvenile (10%+), dinos can eat from a Feeding Trough on their own. Use Preserving Salt in troughs to double spoil times.

The Direwolf is a tamable, carnivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended. It falls within the DMG classification.

With 330 base Health, the Direwolf is reasonably durable. Melee starts at 100% - respectable melee power that scales with level-ups. Its base Stamina of 260 gives it average stamina. Weight capacity starts at 170, giving it a reasonable inventory size.

The Direwolf is a knockout tame: apply enough torpor to knock it out, then place food in its inventory. Feed it Superior Kibble for the fastest tame and highest effectiveness bonus.

Once tamed, the Direwolf is valued for its harvesting efficiency, collecting key resources faster than most tools. It gives live birth after a gestation period, making breeding straightforward. A wild Direwolf is worth 6 base experience when killed. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.58 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
