Planning a mass raise? The Dimorphodon raising calculator breaks down food needs per phase so nothing goes to waste. Expect ~150 minutes of active care during the Baby phase before it graduates to trough-feeding as a Juvenile.
Adjust the dino count to calculate food for multiple Dimorphodon babies at once - essential for batch breeding operations. Match your food choice to your play schedule - longer spoil timers mean less babysitting.

During the Baby phase (0-10%), you must hand-feed or use a Maewing to nurse. From Juvenile (10%+), dinos can eat from a Feeding Trough on their own. Use Preserving Salt in troughs to double spoil times.
After a successful mate, the Dimorphodon lays a fertilized egg. Incubation temperature must stay between 35°C and 38°C - use Air Conditioners, Standing Torches, or Dimetrodons to maintain the range. At the correct temperature, the egg hatches in approximately 1 hour and 21 minutes.
After hatching or birth, the baby Dimorphodon matures requiring significant patience, reaching adulthood in about 1 day and 1 hour at 1x maturation. Hand-feeding is required until 10% maturation. After that, a Feeding Trough handles the rest.
Mutations can add +2 levels to any stat and change colors. Stacking mutations across generations is the key to min-maxed breeding lines. Use the breeding calculator to plan food requirements, incubation timers, and maturation phases.
Raising a baby Dimorphodon involves three maturation phases: Baby (0–10%) lasts ~150 min and requires constant hand-feeding. Juvenile (10–50%) spans ~10h - it can eat from a Trough now. Adolescent (50–100%) takes ~13h - continues eating from troughs, nearly fully grown.
Imprinting during maturation provides permanent stat bonuses. At 100% imprint, the Dimorphodon gains 30% bonus damage and resistance when ridden by the imprinter. You'll be asked to cuddle, walk, or feed specific kibble at regular intervals during maturation.
The Dimorphodon, a tamable, flying, carnivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended, is a common sight across multiple maps. Classified under the Shoulder Pet group.
Health-wise, the Dimorphodon sits at 125 base, making it very frail. With 100% base Melee Damage, the Dimorphodon has decent hitting power. Stamina sits at 150 base, providing decent staying power. Weight capacity starts at 50, giving it very limited carrying capacity.
You'll need to knock the Dimorphodon unconscious before taming it. Tranquilizers are the standard approach. For best results, use Raw Mutton - it gives the highest taming efficiency.
Once tamed, the Dimorphodon is commonly used for scouting and quick travel between locations. It reproduces by laying eggs, which must be incubated between 35°C and 38°C. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.28 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
