Compy
The Compy is a knockout tame - render it unconscious with torpor weapons like Tranq Arrows or Shocking Tranq Darts, then feed it while it's down. The Compy loses Torpor at 1.3 per second while unconscious - stay on top of narcotics.
| Food | Food Quantity (Current/Max) | Taming Time | Effectiveness |
|---|---|---|---|
Raw Mutton | 54 | 74 Lvl (224) 98.9% | |
Raw Prime Meat | 1:07 | 73 Lvl (223) 98.29% | |
Raw Prime Fish Meat | 1:14 | 68 Lvl (218) 91.22% |
Check the taming results to see how long it takes to tame the Compy, what effectiveness you'll achieve, and how many bonus levels it gains. Better food means better results.
Use the narcotic calculator to determine exactly how many Narcotics, Bio Toxin, or Narcoberries you need for the Compy. Narcotics provide 40 Torpor each and are the standard choice. Bio Toxin offers 80 Torpor but is harder to farm. Narcoberries at 7.5 each are a last resort. At 1.3 Torpor drain per second, apply narcotics proactively - a wakeup mid-tame wastes everything.
Use the torpor and starve timers to track your Compy tame in real time. Torpor monitoring prevents premature wakeups. The starve timer is for the starve-tame method - let Food drop, then load all kibble at once to avoid waste.
Take a look at this short video guide on how to tame a Compy.
Estimated time until optimal feeding point: 54s
Food to consume through starvation: 80
Target food level: 1495
The Compy is a tamable, carnivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended. It falls within the Shoulder Pet classification.
With 100 base Stamina, the Compy has low stamina reserves. Melee starts at 100% - decent hitting power that scales with level-ups. The Compy has 50 base Health - glass-cannon fragile. A base Weight of 25 means minimal inventory space.
The Compy is a knockout tame: apply enough torpor to knock it out, then place food in its inventory. Raw Mutton is the most effective food for taming, offering the highest affinity per feeding.
After taming, the Compy is valued for its harvesting efficiency, collecting key resources faster than most tools. Breeding produces fertilized eggs that hatch within a 24°C–32°C temperature window. Killing a wild Compy yields 0.5 base XP. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.07 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
Use the knockout chart to see exactly how many Tranq Arrows, Darts, or other torpor weapons it takes to down the Compy. Space your shots to let torpor accumulate - rapid firing risks killing it before knockout.
To simplify the knockout, immobilize the Compy first with Bola or Bear Trap. A Argentavis can also pick it up and drop it into a taming pen for a controlled knockout.
