Astrocetus
In ARK: Survival Ascended, Astrocetus occupies the aerial transport niche - excels at carrying heavy loads through the air, making base-to-base logistics much faster. As a carnivore, it responds to a special taming method - and ships with 2000 base Weight, providing an enormous weight pool. It gives live birth after a gestation period, with offspring maturing over an extremely long period, one of the longest in the game. Its harvest profile centers on Hide, Raw Meat, Raw Prime Meat and additional resources, making farming runs noticeably faster. That combination of survivability and damage is why Astrocetus sits on most endgame mount shortlists.
Astrocetus does not currently spawn on any ARK: Survival Ascended map, or spawn data is not yet available.
To tame an Astrocetus, you must knock it out by targeting its head with cannons. A Cannon mounted on a Tek Skiff is the recommended method for precision. Once unconscious, feed it Extraordinary Kibble to complete the tame.
Harvesting a dead Astrocetus yields Hide, Raw Meat, Raw Prime Meat, Ambergris. The corpse has 825 harvest health, allowing multiple hits before it's fully depleted.
Different tools yield different quantities - check the table below to pick the right tool for the resource you need. Generally, a Pick favors meat while a Hatchet favors hide and secondary materials.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
The Astrocetus has 16 damage type modifiers that affect incoming damage. With 8 resistances and 7 weaknesses, its biggest vulnerability takes +400% extra damage - exploit that for faster kills. See the full breakdown in the table below. Values under 100% indicate resistance, above 100% indicate weakness.
