Overview
The Araneo is a small, carnivorous creature with a unique utility role. It passively tames and can be carried as cargo by larger creatures, enabling strategic deployment. Its primary use is for weight reduction on specific resources when stored in its inventory.
It can be airlifted by Quetzal, Desmodus, Karkinos, Megalosaurus, Kaprosuchus, Procoptodon, Quetzal, or Tusoteuthis for fast transport across maps.
Spawn Locations
22 mapsAraneo spawns in caves, cities, forests, mountains, oases, swamps, volcanoes, and wastelands. It is very common and appears across 21 ARK maps. Look for it in dark, enclosed spaces where it often clings to walls or ceilings.

Araneo uses passive taming, requiring no knockout or traps. Feed it Spoiled Meat to complete the process. Raw Meat and Raw Fish Meat are less effective alternatives. The tame takes about 13 minutes with 55 units of Spoiled Meat and requires no Narcotics. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Drops & Harvest Resources
Killing an Araneo yields Chitin and Raw Meat. The Dino (Omnivore) provides the highest quantity of Chitin, while the Pick maximizes Raw Meat harvest.

Damage Resistances
Araneo has a strong vulnerability to Instant HurtDinos, taking +120% damage. It is highly resistant to Mining Drill Harvest, taking -100% damage. Melee DmgMetal RaidDino attacks exploit a +55% weakness. Avoid using mining drills against it, as they are completely ineffective.

Hitbox Multipliers
