The Aberrant Lystrosaurus is a small herbivore variant found in the Aberration biome. It is tamed passively and reduces the weight of gathered resources in its inventory. This dino is primarily used to farm high-value plant nodes like Rare Flower and Mejoberry while benefiting from weight reduction. It can be airlifted by Argentavis, Desmodus, or Karkinos for fast deployment to remote zones.
It deals extra damage to Thatch structures, making it useful for light sabotage. Its compact size and passive taming make it a convenient early-game gatherer on Aberration and other maps where it spawns.
The Aberrant Lystrosaurus spawns in bio-zones, caves, and fertile zones across 15 ARK maps. It is uncommon, so sightings are infrequent. Look for it near glowing flora in underground areas on the Aberration map, where spawn density is highest.

Taming is done passively by feeding it directly. The best food is Rare Flower, which grants the fastest taming. Mejoberry also works but is significantly slower. No torpor is required. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Killing an Aberrant Lystrosaurus yields Hide and Raw Meat. The Hatchet yields the most Hide, while the Pick favours Raw Meat.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
While ridden, the Aberrant Lystrosaurus gathers from plant nodes using its melee attack. It harvests at 10× efficiency on Berries, Crop Seeds, Mejoberry, Narcoberry, Stimberry, Rare Flower, Rare Mushroom, Wood, and various seeds. It also gathers Fiber and Cactus Sap at 8× efficiency.
Takes +120% damage from Instant HurtDinos, such as explosive plants or traps. It is highly vulnerable to explosions, taking +50% more damage. It resists spike walls and general explosions, taking 50% and 40% less damage respectively. Avoid using it in spike-heavy defenses.

The head has a 3× damage multiplier, making headshots highly effective for faster knockouts. Target the jaw area when sedating.

The melee attack gathers most plant resources at 10× efficiency, making it one of the fastest plant farmers for rare nodes. It can be tamed without knocking out, allowing safe taming in dangerous areas. Weight reduction applies to over ten resource types, improving cargo efficiency. It can be carried by flyers like Argentavis and Quetzal for aerial transport. Vulnerable to explosion damage, so avoid explosive traps when moving through enemy territory. Resists damage from spike walls, making it slightly safer near defensive perimeters.
