You can now perceive and interact with Axum technology, and detect hidden Axum messages in your environment.
This adaptation add specialized pigments to the eye's photoreceptors, especially in the central macular area. The angel comb which provided this adaptation may have gained it from Axum workers in the Karakorum region. - Ordinary light vibrates in all directions, like sound in air - Axum displays emit polarized light, which vibrates in a single direction, like waves on the sea - Light polarizes as it passes through seawater, capturing information about depth, water conditions, and the position of bodies in the sky - Sea life evolves to capture this information, and then to use polarized light for communication and deception
While simple filters and even the naked human eye can detect light polarization, correct use of Axum technology requires your eye to detect polarization in the same precise way the Axum did.
It is philosophically unclear whether replicating the biomechanics of Axum vision in a human would also replicate the same percepts (first person experience of sense) in a human brain. Does this adaptation look like known entoptic phenomena like Haidinger's brush, or is it entirely new? Would you compare it to - A blind person gaining sight for the first time? - A myopic person putting on glasses? - A normally visioned person seeing a vivid new shade? - Something else?
