A Pegomastax is fed by being robbed. Put what you want it to eat in your last inventory slot and let it pickpocket you: it takes the entire stack, not one item, so keep the slot small. It nicks you for a little damage on the way past. If your last slot is empty it steals something random instead, and if you are carrying nothing at all it simply turns on you. Mejoberries and crops are the easy choice.
