Cogitarids are imposing, dangerous predatory creatures that feed on the minds of living things.
They resemble large floating jellyfish. Their translucent bodies are like a spherical sack, and this sack is wrapped around what looks to be a central cerebral lobe. A large number of tentacles and flower-like hydra endospores grow from under the sack, with the tentacles fusing at the center to form a structure similar to the human spine and ribs.
A Cogitarid can create a formless link between itself and its target's brain to suck the life force and mental energy out of the victim. A drained victim is left an empty shell with no intelligence or consciousness.
The Cogitarid is the final derivative form of the Original Entity (OE) "c" the true final destination of the Stardust-infected, or the "Maniac."
As it progresses in its transformation process, the host's internal tissues are depleted, muscles wither, and skin fester while developing an abnormal appetite for other living things. The biomass that is ingested is used to nourish its mutated brain-spinal-neural system.
If a Maniac ingests enough biomass before its own body collapses due to self-cannibalism and Stardust infection, it will be able to complete the Cogitarid incubation. Its mutated brain separates itself from the old and decaying body and rises up into the air to gain a new life.
The ones that fail to complete the incubation are absorbed by their own greedy brains. Reduced to an infection source for Stardust entities, they lose all possibility for life and can only exist as remnants bodies driven by instinct.
