In this new world, even the humble aphid has succumbed to the warm embrace of Stardust.
This unassuming insect has transformed into an infected Budworm and turned its back on vegetarianism, dragging its ravenous guts and attacking protein-rich creatures instead. Once it identifies its prey, it clings to it with its mouthparts and sucks its flesh and blood, as though through a straw.
The Budworm's stomach is made of a flexible membrane that can be expanded into a ball capable of holding several times the weight of its body in food, which it then starts to convert into Stardust. During this process, the creature's red and purple abdomen looks not unlike a flower in full bloom.
