Deviation O-043 is a bright, high-temperature plasma sphere approximately 35 centimeters in diameter which weighs about 0.016 grams. At its center, there is a denser incandescent core surrounded by a blue halo.

O-043's primary Deviation Trait is that it continuously emits specific electromagnetic radiation (designated O-043-A). Electronic devices exposed to O-043-a show simple intelligence and awareness of their surroundings and become capable of autonomous self control within hours of exposure.

The researchers think that O-043-A devices function as O-043's "terminals" or "limbs" and do not possess independent intelligence. O-043 in fact controls them to interact with the researchers. O-043 can control up to O-043-A devices while interacting with researchers. Excess devices exhibit only simple movements analogous of low level nervous reactions.

When there are no O-043-A devices in activation, O-043 loses its perception of the external world and sense of time.

O-043's intelligence is equivalent to a two year old puppy. It can understand and use up to words. Multiple interaction experiments and interview records indicate that O-043 perceives itself and the researchers as the same. It does not view itself as a "deviation" or "research subject," but in fact as an active participant in the experiments.
During containment breach incident O-043-D-055, O-043 was informed that it was "just a ball of lightning," which induced a state of sadness and depression. It subsequently refused any form of communication. The operational efficiency of O-043-A devices activated by O-043's radiation has improved to varying degrees, but they no longer exhibit intelligence or autonomous activity.

Securement Procedure:
Do:
Secure O-043 in a Grade III S-Vessel for valuable objects. The S-Vessel should be equipped with insulation and electromagnetic radiation shielding.
Maintenance personnel entering the S-Vessel should wear anti-static suits.
O-043's S-Vessel should be isolated from electronic devices and systems.

Place O-043 with any psychologically afflicted or damaged deviations.
