How it playsPlaybook
The Banjo is a melee secondary weapon whose hits build chords for a healing slam. In version 0.2.0.20, its base hit deals 9 damage and its slam deals 25 base damage. The base healing radius is 1024 game units, increased to 2048 with Lullabard. It has a 1.0 XP multiplier and also earns XP from the amount of health restored to players, including yourself.

Strategy

Chord Capacity is Banjo-exclusive and the first upgrade worth taking, at +1 chord per stack up to five. Lullabard adds an extra chord per hit and a wider healing zone but removes the slam attack; Bardbarian keeps the slam and lets you hold it longer for a more powerful blow, so the two Uniques point at opposite builds. Frost Bite works here too: 2 shield points per melee kill on a frozen enemy.

Strengths

  • The slam heals you and every ally in the zone
  • Chord Capacity: five stacks of +1 chord, an upgrade no other weapon has
  • Sits in the secondary slot, so a ranged primary still covers distance

Weaknesses

  • Slow and weak attacks; the hits exist to build chords, not to kill
  • No Charging Speed upgrade, unlike the Knuckles and Lasso
  • Lullabard removes the slam attack Bardbarian is built around, so the two do not combine
How to unlockCollect Blueprints, then unlock it
  1. Blueprints drop during missions. Bosses and loot Coyotes drop them, and surviving the storm at an Anvil forges one.
  2. Blueprints are one shared currency, not a per-weapon count. Every Blueprint you pick up counts toward any weapon.
  3. Spend them on this weapon between runs. Unlocking it with Blueprints buys it outright, with no Gold cost on top.
