The Acrocanthosaurus is immune to ranged tranquilizers and must be rendered unconscious by hand-feeding it Narcoberries, Narcotic, or Bio Toxin during its frustrated roar. Place the narcotic in the last hotbar slot, approach the open mouth, aim for the upper jaw, and press the interact key to feed it. Using a Fabricated Sniper Rifle to trigger the shield stance and track adrenaline phases is recommended. A Pump-Action Shotgun also works well, as excess damage is ignored and does not affect taming effectiveness until the unconscious animation plays (especially viable for higher-level Acrocanthosaurus). As a last resort, trapping one and using a melee-leveled Ice Wyvern is possible, though risky. Avoid Fire, Crystal, Poison, and Lightning Wyverns due to lingering damage effects that reduce taming effectiveness.
Knock the X-Acrocanthosaurus unconscious using your preferred torpor weapon, then feed it to begin the taming process. The X-Acrocanthosaurus loses Torpor at 1.05 per second while unconscious - stay on top of narcotics.

Check the taming results to see how long it takes to tame the X-Acrocanthosaurus, what effectiveness you'll achieve, and how many bonus levels it gains. Better food means better results.
Use the narcotic calculator to determine exactly how many Narcotics, Bio Toxin, or Narcoberries you need for the X-Acrocanthosaurus. Narcotics provide 40 Torpor each and are the standard choice. Bio Toxin offers 80 Torpor but is harder to farm. Narcoberries at 7.5 each are a last resort. At 1.05 Torpor drain per second, apply narcotics proactively - a wakeup mid-tame wastes everything.
Use the torpor and starve timers to track your X-Acrocanthosaurus tame in real time. Starve taming is recommended for valuable high-level X-Acrocanthosaurus: let the Food stat deplete first, then add food. This way nothing is wasted if something goes wrong.
ARK: Survival Ascended features the X-Acrocanthosaurus as a tamable, carnivore creature that survivors will encounter in the wild. It falls within the Variant classification.
Stamina sits at 400 base, providing respectable staying power. Its base Melee Damage sits at 105%, giving it decent hitting power. Starting at 1,261 Health, it's a proper tank. Weight capacity starts at 600, giving it excellent carrying capacity.
To tame the X-Acrocanthosaurus, you need to knock it unconscious using torpor weapons, then feed it while it's down. Exceptional Kibble is the most effective food for taming, offering the highest affinity per feeding.
After taming, the X-Acrocanthosaurus is a practical workhorse - it can both gather and haul resources efficiently. Breeding produces fertilized eggs that hatch within a 43°C–44°C temperature window. Killing a wild X-Acrocanthosaurus yields 35 base XP. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.87 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.

Use the knockout chart to see exactly how many Tranq Arrows, Darts, or other torpor weapons it takes to down the X-Acrocanthosaurus. Space your shots to let torpor accumulate - rapid firing risks killing it before knockout.
To simplify the knockout, immobilize the X-Acrocanthosaurus first with Chain Bola or Bear Trap.
