Umbra Taming Calculator

Umbra only spawns at night. Craft a Drake Claw in the Fabricator and bring Element Shards to power it. Apply Bug Repellant and Cactus Broth, wait for the Umbra to land and calm down, then start the tame with the Drake Claw. A riding minigame follows in phases: repeat the shown key sequences, land attacks without taking hits, hold a long dive, then feed it kibble. Around three full rounds complete the tame. A wrong input throws you off and lowers taming effectiveness, but progress is kept, so pack a parachute or grappling hook and Medical Brews.

Unlike knockout tames, the Umbra must be fed by hand while conscious. Approach slowly and avoid sudden movements. There's a ~10-second cooldown between feedings, so patience is essential.

Starve & Torpor Timers

Use the feeding timer to know when the Umbra will accept its next meal. No more guessing between feeds.

The Umbra, a tamable, flying, carnivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended, is well-known across multiple maps. It falls within the DMG classification.

Starting at 800 Health, it's impressively tough. Dealing 100% base Melee Damage, the Umbra brings solid damage output to the table. Its base Stamina of 650 gives it massive stamina reserves. A base Weight of 350 means good carrying capacity.

This is a passive tame: no tranquilizers needed. Get close without startling it, then offer food from your last hotbar slot. Its preferred food is Raw Mutton.

As a tame, the Umbra works well as a reconnaissance mount, offering fast travel and a bird's-eye view of the terrain. It reproduces by laying eggs, which must be incubated between 80°C and 90°C. Killing a wild Umbra yields 20 base XP. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.82 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
