Shoulder Pet · 14 maps
The Spring Drakeling is a small, flying carnivore tamed as a shoulder pet. It provides a unique passive ability that activates during specific survivor activities. This dino is used to boost progress in crafting, harvesting, and combat through its special bonding mechanic.
It can be carried by flyers such as Quetzal or Phoenix for aerial transport.
Spring Drakeling spawns in city and grassland biomes. It is very rare and appears across 12 ARK maps. Look for it near structures or open fields where it tends to perch visibly on ruins or trees.

Taming a Spring Drakeling uses a special passive method. Light a torch and hold it out; the Drakeling will land on your shoulder. While perched, perform actions like crafting, harvesting, or killing creatures to fill the taming bar.
No narcotics are needed. Use the calculator below for your settings.
Hold out a lit torch and a Drakeling lands on your shoulder. It then banks the experience you earn: craft, harvest or fight to fill its bar, and when the bar is full it lets you feed it once. After each feed it picks a different kind of activity and you fill the bar again, so keep all three going rather than specialising. Stop earning for ninety seconds and it loses progress, and knocking it off your shoulder costs effectiveness, so leave it there until it is done.

Killing a Spring Drakeling yields Hide and Raw Meat. The Hatchet yields the most Hide, while the Pick maximizes Raw Meat harvest.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
