The Sabertooth is a carnivore with a compact build ideal for ambushes and close-quarters combat. It excels at quickly taking down smaller creatures and can be used to defend bases or assist in hunting. It can be airlifted by Argentavis or Karkinos for fast deployment.
It is commonly tamed for its high melee damage and utility in player defense and raiding scenarios.
Sabertooth spawns in caves, dark zones, deserts, mountains, oases, snow, snow grasslands, volcanoes, and wastelands. It appears across 22 ARK maps and is very common. The green zones on the spawn map indicate the highest spawn density.

Sabertooth must be knocked out before taming. Use a Bola or Bear Trap to immobilize it, then sedate it with Tranq Arrows from a Crossbow or Tranquilizer Darts from a Longneck Rifle. The best food is Regular Kibble, with Raw Mutton also working well. About 7 units of Regular Kibble are needed. The tame takes around 22 minutes. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Killing a Sabertooth yields Hide, Raw Meat, and Keratin. The Hatchet yields the most Hide and Keratin, while the Pick maximizes Raw Meat.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
Sabertooth has a +120% weakness to Instant HurtDinos, making it vulnerable to explosive damage. It also takes +100% more damage from spike walls, making these highly effective in base defense. It is highly resistant to mining drill harvesting and projectile impacts, reducing damage by 50%. Level Health and Melee Damage.
