The Raptor is a small, carnivorous creature used for scouting and light combat. It excels at rapid movement and can be immobilized easily for taming. This dino is commonly tamed for early-game utility and pack hunting. It can be airlifted by Argentavis or Karkinos for fast deployment.
Raptors are aggressive and spawn in groups, making them dangerous in numbers. Their small size allows access to tight terrain where larger predators cannot follow. They are often used as beginner mounts due to simple taming and wide availability.
Raptors spawn commonly across 21 ARK maps, including Forests, Jungles, Mountains, and Volcanic zones. They are frequently found in Chalk Hills, Cities, Dark Zones, Grasslands, Oases, and Wastelands. The highest spawn density appears in forested and urban biomes. Use the spawn map to locate green zones for optimal hunting.

Raptors must be knocked out before taming. Use a Bola or Bear Trap to immobilize it, then apply tranquilizing weapons. The best food is Simple Kibble, which provides the fastest taming. Raw Mutton also works well if kibble is unavailable.
Use a Bow with Tranq Arrows or a Longneck Rifle with Tranquilizer Darts for ranged sedation. The process takes around 10 minutes with Simple Kibble. No Narcotics are required. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Killing a Raptor yields Hide and Raw Meat. The Hatchet yields the most Hide, while the Pick favors Raw Meat.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
Raptors have a +120% weakness to damage from Instant HurtDinos, making them vulnerable to certain special attacks. They resist Mining Drill Harvest damage completely, taking -100% damage from it. They are also weak to Melee DmgMetal RaidDino attacks (+55%) and Explosions (+50%). Level Health and Melee Damage.

The Raptor's head takes triple damage, making headshots ideal for fast knockouts.
It can be carried by flyers like Argentavis and Quetzal, enabling aerial troop deployment.
Its Pounce attack has a range of 8.5 meters, useful for closing distance quickly in combat.
Raptors are weak to piercing projectile attacks, so avoid areas with Spike Walls or Ballistas.
