Overview
The R-Megatherium is a variant of the Megatherium, modified with increased melee damage and reduced health. It excels at gathering Chitin and Fiber at high efficiency, especially when its Insect Slayer ability activates. This dino is primarily used for fast resource farming in insect-heavy zones. It can be airlifted by Quetzal or Tusoteuthis for rapid deployment to remote areas.
Players tame it for its boosted gathering multipliers and combat effectiveness against insect-type creatures.
Spawn Locations
R-Megatherium does not currently spawn on any ARK: Survival Ascended map, or spawn data is not yet available.
The R-Megatherium must be knocked out before taming. Use a Chain Bola, Bear Trap, or Large Bear Trap to immobilize it. Tranq Arrows from a Bow or Crossbow work well for sedation. Feed it Superior Kibble for the fastest taming. Raw Mutton also works if kibble is unavailable.
It requires about 16 Superior Kibble and 48 minutes to tame at level 150. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Drops & Harvest Resources
Killing the R-Megatherium yields Hide, Raw Meat, and Pelt. The Hatchet harvests the most Hide and Pelt, while the Pick maximizes Raw Meat yield.

Gathering Abilities
While ridden, the R-Megatherium gathers Chitin, Fiber, Mushrooms, and Rare Mushrooms at 6× efficiency. Berries, Cactus Sap, Clay, Seeds, Rare Flower, and Sand are gathered at 5×. Its Claw, Slam, Bite, and Water Bite attacks all provide the same high gathering rates. This makes it ideal for rapid node clearing in diverse biomes.
Damage Resistances
The R-Megatherium takes +120% damage from Instant HurtDinos and +100% from spike walls, making it highly vulnerable to both. It is immune to Mining Drill Harvest damage. Due to its weaknesses, avoid placing it near spike walls or using it against Instant HurtDinos. Level Health and Melee Damage to maximize its effectiveness in combat.

The Insect Slayer (Energized) buff activates on killing an insect-type creature. It grants +60% Chitin harvest, 2.5× Melee Damage, and 2× movement speed for 120 seconds.
