Variant
R-Equus is a herbivorous variant creature introduced in Genesis: Part 2. It reduces the weight of several resources in its inventory, making it valuable for transport efficiency. The most significant reductions are -80% on Clay, Sand, and Cactus Sap, and -50% on Stone and Chitin/Keratin. It can be carried by large creatures such as Argentavis or Karkinos for aerial deployment.
Players tame R-Equus primarily to streamline hauling heavy bulk resources across long distances with reduced encumbrance.
R-Equus does not currently spawn on any ARK: Survival Ascended map, or spawn data is not yet available.
R-Equus is tamed passively, requiring no knockout or traps. Feed it Rockarrot to complete the process, as it provides the highest affinity. Mejoberry can also be used but is significantly slower. The taming takes about 9 minutes and requires 23 Rockarrot at level 150 on Official settings. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Killing R-Equus yields Hide, Raw Meat, and Pelt. The Hatchet is the best tool for harvesting Hide and Pelt, while the Pick maximizes Raw Meat yield.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
While mounted, R-Equus gathers a wide variety of plant-based resources with high efficiency. Its attacks yield 10× multipliers on Berries, Crop Seeds, Mejoberry, Mejoberry Seed, Mushroom, Narcoberry, Narcoberry Seed, Plant Species X Seed, Plant Species Y Seed, Rare Flower, Rare Mushroom, Stimberry, Stimberry Seed, and Wood. It also gathers Cactus Sap and Fiber at 8× efficiency.
R-Equus reduces inventory weight by -80% for Clay, Sand, Cactus Sap, and Cementing Paste, and by -50% for Stone and Chitin/Keratin. Pair it with a carrier like Quetzal to maintain these reductions during aerial transport.
R-Equus has a notable resistance to fire damage, taking -60% from fire-based attacks. It is highly vulnerable to instant-damage sources, taking +120% more damage from abilities like Instant HurtDinos. Spike walls are also extremely effective, dealing +100% bonus damage. Avoid fire-based taming tools or defensive setups when subduing it.

The head is the only hit zone with a damage multiplier, taking 2× damage. Target the head for faster knockouts when taming.
R-Equus can damage Thatch structures. Build at least in Wood to protect against its attacks.

R-Equus reduces the weight of Clay by -80%, making it ideal for large-scale building material transport.
It also reduces Sand and Cactus Sap by -80%, beneficial for glass or industrial crafting chains.
When carried by Argentavis, its weight reductions remain active, enabling efficient long-range resource hauling.
It takes +120% damage from instant-damage effects, making such tools highly effective for taming or combat.
