Shoulder Pet · 13 maps
The Pyromane is a small carnivorous shoulder pet. It uses a special passive taming method involving dousing it with water and damaging it to initiate taming. Once tamed, it absorbs flames from nearby creatures while mounted to progress its taming bar. It can be airlifted by Quetzal, Karkinos, Megalosaurus, Procoptodon, or Tusoteuthis for fast deployment.
Players tame the Pyromane primarily for its unique flame-absorption mechanic and portability in combat scenarios.
The Pyromane spawns in volcanic biomes across 13 ARK maps. It is considered uncommon, so sightings are infrequent. Focus searches near active lava zones for the highest spawn density.

Tame the Pyromane using the special passive method. Douse it with water from rain, ocean, or a water source to apply the Doused debuff, then deal damage until a mount prompt appears. While mounted, kill nearby flaming creatures and absorb their flames to fill the taming bar. The Pyromane periodically bucks off its rider, requiring re-dousing and repetition until taming completes. Use Extraordinary Kibble for fastest results. Cooked Lamb Chop also works well. About 6 kibble and 122,800 minutes are needed at level 150 on official rates. Douse the Pyromane with water (rain, ocean, or water source) to apply the Doused debuff, then deal damage until a mount prompt appears. While mounted, kill nearby creatures and absorb their flames to fill the taming bar. The Pyromane will periodically buck you off — re-douse and repeat the cycle until fully tamed.
Killing a Pyromane yields Hide and Raw Meat. The Hatchet yields the most Hide, while the Pick maximizes Raw Meat.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
The Pyromane takes +120% more damage from Instant HurtDinos attacks, making it highly vulnerable to certain mechanics. It is completely immune to Lava, Lava Base, FireStructure, Projectile Fire, ShooterDamageTypeBP Fire, and MiningDrill Harvest damage, taking -100% from each. This makes it ideal for volcanic environments. Level Health and Melee Damage.

It takes +120% more damage from Instant HurtDinos attacks, a critical vulnerability to avoid in combat.
It is completely immune to lava and fire-based damage sources, allowing safe operation in extreme heat zones.
