Pyromane Overview

In ARK: Survival Ascended, Pyromane occupies the harvester niche - is primarily used for resource harvesting, excelling at gathering specific materials. As a carnivore, it responds to a special taming method - favoring Extraordinary Kibble - and ships with 100% base Melee Damage, giving it solid damage output. It gives live birth after a gestation period, with offspring maturing slowly. Survivors lean on it to gather Hide, Raw Meat at much higher rates than hand tools. Players target Pyromane once they need a reliable workhorse beyond the starter mounts.

Spawn Locations

13 maps

Found across 13 maps in forests, swamps, and mountain regions. Green zones have the highest spawn density. Each species has a population cap per area, so wiping out other creatures nearby can trigger new Pyromane spawns.

Taming

Douse the Pyromane with water (rain, ocean, or water source) to apply the Doused debuff, then deal damage until a mount prompt appears. While mounted, kill nearby creatures and absorb their flames to fill the taming bar. The Pyromane will periodically buck you off — re-douse and repeat the cycle until fully tamed.

Drops & Harvest Resources

Harvesting a dead Pyromane yields Hide, Raw Meat. The corpse has 230 harvest health, allowing multiple hits before it's fully depleted.

Different tools yield different quantities - check the table below to pick the right tool for the resource you need. Generally, a Pick favors meat while a Hatchet favors hide and secondary materials.

Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.

Damage Resistances

Incoming damage to the Pyromane is modified by 21 different type-specific multipliers. It resists 14 damage types (up to 100% reduction) and is vulnerable to 6 (up to +120% incoming damage). See the full breakdown in the table below. Values under 100% indicate resistance, above 100% indicate weakness.
