The Pelagornis is a flyer that specializes in gathering polymer and organic resources from aquatic nodes. It reduces Polymer and Organic Polymer weight by -80%, making it ideal for efficient polymer farming runs. Players tame it to streamline harvesting large quantities of polymer-based resources from underwater deposits.
It can be airlifted by Quetzal or Karkinos for fast deployment to remote ocean sites.
Pelagornis spawns on 14 ARK maps and is very common. It typically appears near coastlines and over open water where aquatic resource nodes are abundant. Look for its silhouette gliding above the waves to spot it quickly.
Each shape is a real spawn volume. Click for exact chance and zone info.
Pelagornis must be knocked out before taming. Use a Bola, Bear Trap, or Plant Species Y to immobilize it. Then use Tranq Arrows from a Bow, Crossbow, or Compound Bow, or Tranquilizer Darts from a Longneck Rifle to sedate it.
Tame with Regular Kibble for the fastest results. Raw Mutton also works well. The process takes about 30 minutes and requires no Narcotics. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Killing a Pelagornis yields Hide and Raw Meat. The Hatchet yields the most Hide, while the Pick favours Raw Meat.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
While ridden, Pelagornis gathers from aquatic nodes using its beak. It harvests AnglerGel, Bio Toxin, Keratin, Raw Fish Meat, Raw Prime Fish Meat, and Organic Polymer with a 13.3× multiplier on most, and 5× on Organic Polymer. It specializes in polymer and chitin nodes, making it highly efficient for these resources.
Pelagornis reduces Polymer and Organic Polymer weight by -80%. Pair it with a Quetzal or Karkinos to transport large polymer loads efficiently.
Pelagornis has a +120% weakness to Instant HurtDinos, meaning it takes significantly more damage from sources like spike walls and turrets. It resists Mining Drill Harvest completely, taking no damage. Exploiting its projectile and explosion weaknesses is effective in combat. Level Health and Melee Damage.

The head has a 3× damage multiplier, making headshots highly effective for faster knockouts. Target the jaw area during taming for optimal torpor gain.

The Pelagornis harvests Organic Polymer at 5× and other key polymer resources at 13.3×, making it one of the fastest polymer gatherers.
It can be carried by Quetzal and Karkinos, enabling long-range aerial transport.
Its +120% weakness to Instant HurtDinos makes it vulnerable to spike walls and automated defenses.
Use it to farm Bio Toxin and AnglerGel efficiently from deep-sea nodes.
