Breeding

Official servers currently have boosted rates! You don't need to change settings in our calculator.

Overview

Maewing is a medium-sized omnivore used primarily for breeding. It reduces the weight of many consumable resources by 50%, making it ideal for hauling large quantities of plant-based and meat items. This makes it a valuable companion for supply runs and mobile farming operations. It can be carried by Quetzal or Tusoteuthis for rapid aerial or aquatic transport.

The weight reduction applies to over 30 different resources, including Raw Meat, Citronal, and Longrass. Its compact size and omnivore diet make it easy to maintain in storage pens or on the move.

Spawn Locations

Maewing does not currently spawn on any ARK: Survival Ascended map, or spawn data is not yet available.

Maewing must be tamed via knockout. Use a Chain Bola or trap it with a Bear Trap or Large Bear Trap to immobilize it. Tranq Arrows from a Bow or Crossbow are effective for sedation, as are Tranquilizer Darts from a Longneck Rifle.

The best food is Basic Kibble, which provides the fastest taming. Raw Mutton also works well. A level 150 Maewing takes about 16 Basic Kibble and 11 minutes to tame on official rates. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Drops & Harvest Resources

Killing a Maewing yields Hide, Raw Meat, Pelt, and Keratin. The Hatchet harvests the most Hide, Pelt, and Keratin, while the Pick is best for Raw Meat.

Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.

Gathering Abilities

While ridden, Maewing gathers a wide variety of resources using its Bite, BellyFlop, PickUp, Dive Bomb, and Fly Bite attacks. It efficiently harvests Berries, Fiber, Mushroom, Rare Flower, and Wood at 10× yield. It also gathers Citronal, Longrass, Organic Polymer, and Rockarrot at high efficiency. Specialized seeds like Mejoberry Seed and Narcoberry Seed are also collected in bulk.

Weight Reduction

Maewing reduces the weight of Raw Meat, Citronal, Longrass, Mejoberry, Rockarrot, Stimberry, Narcoberry, and many other consumables by 50%. Pair it with a Quetzal to maintain this reduction during flight.
