The Kaprosuchus is a carnivorous water creature known for its ability to carry small creatures in its jaws. It excels at transporting lightweight survivors and creatures across rivers and lakes, making it ideal for aquatic exploration. It can airlift smaller mounts such as Achatina, Araneo, Archaeopteryx, and Armadoggo in its jaws for mobile support.
It can be carried by Tusoteuthis, allowing for deep-sea deployment and rapid transit in underwater environments.
Kaprosuchus spawns in caves, deserts, freshwater, and oases across 20 ARK maps. It is considered uncommon, so players may need to explore multiple regions to locate one. Focus on riverbanks and shallow lakes for the highest spawn density.
Each shape is a real spawn volume. Click for exact chance and zone info.
Kaprosuchus must be knocked out before taming. Use a Chain Bola or trap it with a Bear Trap or Large Bear Trap to immobilize it. Tranquilizer Darts from a Crossbow or Longneck Rifle are effective for sedation.
Feed it Regular Kibble for the fastest taming. Raw Mutton also works well. The process takes about 13 minutes and requires no Narcotics. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Killing a Kaprosuchus yields Hide and Raw Meat. The Hatchet yields the most Hide, while the Pick maximizes Raw Meat output.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
Kaprosuchus has a +120% weakness to Instant HurtDinos, making it highly vulnerable to explosive damage sources like spike walls. It resists Mining Drill Harvest attacks completely, taking -100% damage. Melee attacks from metal weapons deal +55% more damage, making them effective in combat. Level Health and Melee Damage for better survivability.

The head has a 1.5× damage multiplier, making headshots effective for faster knockout. Focus on the jaw area during taming for optimal torpor buildup.

The LeapAttack deals 45 damage and has a 20-meter range, useful for closing gaps quickly.
The Grab attack allows Kaprosuchus to carry small creatures like Compy or Cat for transport.
It is highly vulnerable to explosions, so avoid spike walls and grenades when using it defensively.
It can be carried by Tusoteuthis, enabling deep-sea operations and underwater logistics.
