Use the raising calculator to plan food requirements for raising Grand Tortugar babies through all three growth stages. The Baby phase (0–10%) takes ~465 minutes and is the most hands-on, requiring direct feeding or a Maewing.
The multiplier feature helps plan large-scale Grand Tortugar raises by totaling food across all babies. Consider food spoilage when choosing what to feed: Kibble lasts days, while Raw Meat spoils in minutes.

During the Baby phase (0-10%), you must hand-feed or use a Maewing to nurse. From Juvenile (10%+), dinos can eat from a Feeding Trough on their own. Use Preserving Salt in troughs to double spoil times.
Breeding the Grand Tortugar produces fertilized eggs that require careful temperature control. Incubation temperature must stay between 54°C and 60°C - use Air Conditioners, Standing Torches, or Dimetrodons to maintain the range. At the correct temperature, the egg hatches in approximately 3 hours and 29 minutes.
After hatching or birth, the baby Grand Tortugar matures at a glacially slow pace - plan for a multi-day commitment, reaching adulthood in about 3 days and 5 hours at 1x maturation. The most labor-intensive part is the baby phase (0–10% maturation) when it can't use a Feeding Trough yet.
Offspring inherit parental stats and have a small chance to mutate, gaining +2 levels in a random stat. Use the breeding calculator to plan food requirements, incubation timers, and maturation phases.
Maturation has three phases: Baby (0–10%) lasts ~465 min and requires constant hand-feeding. Juvenile (10–50%) spans ~31h - it can eat from a Trough now. Adolescent (50–100%) takes ~39h - continues eating from troughs, nearly fully grown.
Don't skip imprinting - each successful imprint boosts the Grand Tortugar's stats, and hitting 100% grants a 30% combat bonus when the imprinter rides it. Keep various kibble types on hand, as imprint requests are randomized between cuddles, walks, and kibble feeding.
ARK: Survival Ascended features the Grand Tortugar as a tamable, omnivore creature that survivors will encounter in the wild. It falls within the Soaker classification.
Its base Melee Damage sits at 100%, giving it respectable melee power. Health-wise, the Grand Tortugar sits at 1,050 base, making it solidly tanky. With 260 base Stamina, the Grand Tortugar has moderate endurance. Weight capacity starts at 2250, giving it excellent carrying capacity.
To tame the Grand Tortugar, you need to knock it unconscious using torpor weapons, then feed it while it's down. Feed it Giant Bee Honey for the fastest tame and highest effectiveness bonus.
Once tamed, the Grand Tortugar pulls double duty as both a capable resource harvester and pack animal. Breeding produces fertilized eggs that hatch within a 54°C–60°C temperature window. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.64 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
