The Giant Queen Bee is a passive flyer tamed for farming resources in cave biomes. It excels at gathering specific organic materials while ridden, making it a niche utility mount for resource nodes in tight underground spaces. It can be airlifted by Quetzal or Karkinos for fast deployment.
This creature does not reduce inventory weight but provides unique harvest bonuses while active in its environment.
Giant Queen Bees spawn in cave systems across 15 ARK maps. They are very commonly found, with the highest concentration in deep underground zones. Use the spawn map to locate green-marked areas for optimal search efficiency.

Taming a Giant Queen Bee is done passively after destroying its nest, which has 5,000 health. Approach carefully once the nest is broken to begin feeding. The best food is Raw Mutton, which provides the fastest taming affinity. Rare Flower also works well if Raw Mutton is unavailable.
Taming takes about 5 Raw Mutton and around 2 minutes at level 224 with 99% effectiveness. No Narcotics are needed. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Killing a Giant Queen Bee yields Chitin, Raw Meat, and Cementing Paste. The Dino (Omnivore) tool harvests the most Chitin, the Pick maximizes Raw Meat, and a Chitin Weapon gives the highest Cementing Paste yield.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
The Giant Queen Bee takes +600% more damage from melee attacks that apply Torpor, Poison, or ChitinPaste effects. It is highly vulnerable to explosions, taking +50% increased damage. Conversely, it has -50% damage reduction from Spike Walls and Ranged Turrets, making those defenses less effective. Avoid using Mining Drills or projectile-based weapons with impact effects, as it is completely resistant.

Destroy the nest first to initiate passive taming. The taming process does not require Narcotics or sedation. It takes increased damage from Torpor-inducing melee attacks, making them highly effective during combat. Use spike walls or turrets cautiously, as they deal significantly reduced damage. It is immune to Mining Drill Harvest damage, allowing it to safely approach automated mining structures.
