Doedicurus is a medium-sized herbivore used primarily for farming. It reduces the weight of Stone in its inventory by 75%, making it highly efficient for stone transport. Players tame it to streamline Stone gathering and hauling for base construction. It can be airlifted by Argentavis, Karkinos, Quetzal, or Tusoteuthis for rapid deployment to mining zones.
Doedicurus spawns commonly across 21 ARK maps. It inhabits a wide range of biomes including Deserts, Forests, Mountains, Snow regions, Oases, Redwoods, Chalk Hills, and the Dark Zone. Highest spawn densities are typically found in open grasslands and desert edges.

Doedicurus must be knocked out before taming. Use a Chain Bola or trap it with a Bear Trap or Large Bear Trap to immobilize it. Tranq Arrows, Tranquilizer Darts, or Shocking Tranquilizer Darts from a Crossbow, Compound Bow, or Longneck Rifle are effective for sedation. The best food is Regular Kibble, requiring about 17 units. Taming takes approximately 43 minutes and requires 2 Narcotics. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Killing a Doedicurus yields Hide, Raw Meat, and Keratin. The Hatchet is the best tool for harvesting Hide and Keratin, while the Pick maximizes Raw Meat yield.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
While mounted, Doedicurus gathers a wide variety of resources using its tail attacks. It excels at harvesting Blue Gem, Crystal, Metal, Obsidian, Silica Pearls, and Organic Polymer, all at a 21× multiplier. It efficiently gathers from nodes in categories including berries, fiber, sap, seeds, wood, stone, mushrooms, and rare flowers.
Doedicurus reduces the weight of Stone by 75% in its inventory. Pair it with a Argentavis or Quetzal for aerial transport while maintaining the weight reduction benefit.
Doedicurus is highly resistant to fire, taking 60% less damage from fire-based attacks. It has a severe weakness to spike walls and instant-damage traps, taking 100% and 120% more damage respectively. It is also vulnerable to explosive and metal melee attacks. Level Health and Melee Damage for better survivability.

The head has a 1.5× damage multiplier, making headshots more effective for faster knockouts. Target the head when sedating to reduce taming time.

Numbers reflect base melee at level 1, 100% TE, no imprint. The damage calculator lets you scale by melee %, server multipliers, and pick a specific structure for exact hit counts.
The tail attack gathers Blue Gem, Metal, and Obsidian at a 21× multiplier, making it one of the fastest gem and metal node harvesters. It reduces Stone weight by 75%, ideal for large-scale building projects. Can be carried by Argentavis, enabling fast aerial transport of stone loads. Vulnerable to spike walls, taking +100% damage, so avoid defensive perimeters with them. Resists fire damage by 60%, making it somewhat safer near fire-based traps. Its high torpor and compact size make it easy to knock out for taming.
