Climber
The Dinopithecus is a medium-sized omnivore known for its special passive taming mechanic and climbing ability. It excels at damaging structures and can carry smaller creatures as cargo, making it a versatile raiding mount. It can be airlifted by Quetzal or Tusoteuth游戏副本 for rapid deployment to enemy bases.
Its aggressive melee attacks and boulder throw make it effective in combat and siege scenarios. Players tame it for its utility in PvP raids and its ability to traverse vertical terrain with ease.
Dinopithecus does not currently spawn on any ARK: Survival Ascended map, or spawn data is not yet available.
Taming a Dinopithecus requires a special passive method. First, locate the Alpha of the pack, identified by its glowing aura, and eliminate all other nearby pack members. Once alone, reduce the Alpha's health below 85%, then feed it Exceptional Kibble to complete the taming process. Raw Mutton also works if kibble is unavailable.
The Alpha can be immobilized using a Chain Bola, Bear Trap, or Large Bear Trap. No narcotics are required. Use the calculator below for your settings.
To tame a Dinopithecus, find the Alpha of the pack (identifiable by its glowing aura) and kill all other pack members nearby. Reduce the Alpha's health below 85%, then passively feed it Exceptional Kibble, Raw Mutton, or Raw Prime Meat until tamed.
Killing a Dinopithecus yields Hide and Raw Meat. The Hatchet yields the most Hide, while the Pick maximizes Raw Meat harvest.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
The Dinopithecus has a significant weakness to Instant HurtDinos, taking +120% damage from such sources. It also takes +100% damage from spike walls, making it vulnerable in defensive setups. Conversely, it is highly resistant to Mining Drill Harvest attacks, taking -100% damage. Melee attacks with impact effects are 50% less effective against it. Level Health and Melee Damage to maximize its raiding potential.
