Soaker · 21 maps
Carbonemys is a large herbivore that serves as a soaker in ARK: Survival Ascended. It reduces the weight of gathered resources in its inventory, making it highly efficient for long foraging trips. Players tame it to maximize cargo efficiency while gathering Berries, Fiber, and Wood. It can be airlifted by Quetzal or Tusoteuthis for fast deployment.
The Carbonemys excels at passive resource collection and is often used in automated farming or node runs.
Carbonemys spawns commonly across beach, city, forest, and jungle biomes. It appears on 21 ARK maps, making it widely accessible. Look for it near shorelines or dense vegetation where plant nodes are abundant.

Carbonemys must be knocked out before taming. Use a Chain Bola or trap it in a Bear Trap or Large Bear Trap to immobilize it. Tranq Arrows from a Bow or Crossbow work well for sedation. Feed it Regular Kibble for the fastest taming. About 16 kibble are needed. The process takes around 20 minutes with no Narcotics required. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Killing a Carbonemys yields Hide, Raw Meat, and Keratin. The Hatchet yields the most Hide and Keratin, while the Pick maximizes Raw Meat.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
While ridden, Carbonemys gathers using its bite attack. It harvests Berries, Fiber, Wood, and Seeds at 10× efficiency. This includes Mejoberry, Narcoberry, Stimberry, Rare Flower, Rare Mushroom, and Cactus Sap at high rates. It also collects Wood and Fiber efficiently from trees and bushes.
Carbonemys has a +120% vulnerability to Instant HurtDinos, making it highly susceptible to certain environmental hazards. It takes +100% more damage from spike walls, making those highly effective in defense. It is highly resistant to fire, taking -60% damage from fire-based attacks.

Carbonemys has zone-specific damage multipliers. The head takes 1× damage, the body takes only 0.2×, and the tail takes 0.5×. Aim for the head when trying to knock it out efficiently.
Carbonemys can break Thatch structures. Build at least in Wood to resist its damage.

The Carbonemys gathers Berries, Seeds, and Mushrooms at 10× efficiency with its bite attack.
It harvests Wood and Fiber at 10× and 8× respectively, ideal for node farming.
It is highly resistant to fire, surviving well in volcanic zones.
It can be carried by Quetzal without losing its weight reduction benefits.
Avoid using it near spike walls, as it takes double damage from them.
