The Brontosaurus is a massive herbivore used primarily as a farming mount. Its key strength lies in reducing the weight of gathered resources in its inventory, making it highly efficient for long harvesting trips. It can be airlifted by Quetzal or Karkinos for fast deployment.
Players tame the Brontosaurus to gather large quantities of plant-based resources quickly while carrying heavier loads with less encumbrance.
Brontosaurus spawns commonly across beaches, chalk hills, grasslands, snow biomes, and wastelands. It appears on 21 ARK maps, making it widely accessible. The green zones on the spawn map indicate the highest concentration of this creature.

Brontosaurus must be knocked out before taming. The best food for taming is Exceptional Kibble, which provides the fastest affinity gain. Mejoberry can be used as an alternative if kibble is unavailable.
Use a Bear Trap or Large Bear Trap to immobilize it. KO it with tranq projectiles such as Tranq Arrow from a Bow or Tranquilizer Dart from a Longneck Rifle. About 54 pieces of Exceptional Kibble are needed. The tame takes around 55 minutes. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Killing a Brontosaurus yields Sauropod Vertebra, Hide, Raw Meat, and Raw Prime Meat. The Hatchet yields the most Hide, while the Pick is best for Raw Meat and the Dino (Prime) tool maximizes Raw Prime Meat harvests.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
While ridden, the Brontosaurus excels at gathering plant resources. Its melee attack harvests Berries, Wood, Fiber, Mushrooms, and Seeds with a 10× multiplier. Notable yields include Mejoberry, Narcoberry, Stimberry, and Rare Flower. It also gathers Cactus Sap and Fiber at 8× efficiency.
Brontosaurus takes +400% more damage from spike walls, making them extremely effective in defensive setups. It is also vulnerable to Instant HurtDinos (+120%) and metal melee attacks (+55%). Conversely, it resists ranged turret damage and standard melee with projectile impact by 50%. Level Health and Melee Damage.

The Brontosaurus applies a 10× harvest multiplier to most plant-based resources, making it ideal for farm node grinding.
Use spike walls to defend against escaped Brontosauruses, as they take +400% damage from them.
Its inventory reduces weight on Metal, Crystal, Obsidian, Stone, Fungal Wood, Hide, and Keratin by up to 85%.
Carry it in a Quetzal's cargo hold to preserve weight reduction benefits during transport.
It can be immobilized with Bear Trap, Large Bear Trap, or Plant Species Y.
Avoid metal melee weapons when fighting an untamed Brontosaurus, as it takes +55% damage from them.
