Argentavis Egg & Breeding Calculator

Breeding the Argentavis produces fertilized eggs that require careful temperature control. Incubation temperature must stay between 12°C and 13.5°C - use Air Conditioners, Standing Torches, or Dimetrodons to maintain the range. At the correct temperature, the egg hatches in approximately 2 hours and 56 minutes.

After hatching or birth, the baby Argentavis matures slowly, reaching adulthood in about 2 days and 6 hours at 1x maturation. The most labor-intensive part is the baby phase (0–10% maturation) when it can't use a Feeding Trough yet.

Offspring inherit parental stats and have a small chance to mutate, gaining +2 levels in a random stat. Use the breeding calculator to plan food requirements, incubation timers, and maturation phases.

The hatched dinosaur, now a baby, needs constant attention and food placed directly in its inventory to survive, or a nearby Maewing to take care of its needs.

The dinosaur reaches the juvenile stage, where it can now eat from a feeding trough, reducing the need for direct feeding.

The dinosaur reaches the adolescent stage, becoming more independent and able to follow you while continuing to grow toward full maturity.

Maturation has three phases: Baby (0–10%) lasts ~327 min and requires constant hand-feeding. Juvenile (10–50%) spans ~22h - it can eat from a Trough now. Adolescent (50–100%) takes ~27h - continues eating from troughs, nearly fully grown.

Don't skip imprinting - each successful imprint boosts the Argentavis's stats, and hitting 100% grants a 30% combat bonus when the imprinter rides it. Keep various kibble types on hand, as imprint requests are randomized between cuddles, walks, and kibble feeding.

Planning a mass raise? The Argentavis raising calculator breaks down food needs per phase so nothing goes to waste. The Baby phase (0–10%) takes ~327 minutes and is the most hands-on, requiring direct feeding or a Maewing.

Raising multiple Argentavis simultaneously? Set the dino count and the calculator scales food requirements automatically. Match your food choice to your play schedule - longer spoil timers mean less babysitting.

During the Baby phase (0-10%), you must hand-feed or use a Maewing to nurse. From Juvenile (10%+), dinos can eat from a Feeding Trough on their own. Use Preserving Salt in troughs to double spoil times.

ARK: Survival Ascended features the Argentavis as a tamable, carnivore creature that survivors will encounter in the wild. It falls within the Farmer classification.

At 365 base HP, the Argentavis is decently sturdy. Its base Melee Damage sits at 100%, giving it decent hitting power. With 400 base Stamina, the Argentavis has good endurance. Weight capacity starts at 400, giving it good carrying capacity.

To tame the Argentavis, you need to knock it unconscious using torpor weapons, then feed it while it's down. For best results, use Superior Kibble - it gives the highest taming efficiency.

Once tamed, the Argentavis is primarily used for resource harvesting, excelling at gathering specific materials. Breeding produces fertilized eggs that hatch within a 12°C–13.5°C temperature window. Killing a wild Argentavis yields 7 base XP. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.68 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
