Wall Runner
The Andrewsarchus is a large omnivore with the Wall Runner role. It reduces the weight of Advanced Rifle Bullet by 50% while in its inventory. This makes it ideal for players stockpiling ammunition for ranged combat. It can be airlifted by Quetzal or Tusoteuthis for fast deployment.
Andrewsarchus is primarily used to store and transport large quantities of ammunition efficiently while benefiting from its moderate combat utility and gather capabilities.
Andrewsarchus does not currently spawn on any ARK: Survival Ascended map, or spawn data is not yet available.
Taming an Andrewsarchus uses the Special Passive method. Drop Giant Bee Honey to distract it, then stealthily mount while wearing a Ghillie Suit. While riding, follow steering prompts to maintain control during bucking animations. Superior Kibble is the best food for taming. About 27 Superior Kibble are needed. The process takes around 4 minutes. 145 Narcotics are required to maintain torpor. Use the calculator below for your settings.
In Ark Survival Evolved, taming an Andrewsarchus requires a blend of stealth and skill. First, slip into a Ghillie suit and have some Giant Bee Honey handy on your quick access bar. Drop the honey to distract the creature and, while it’s feasting, stealthily approach and mount it. As you ride, pay close attention to the steering arrow prompts. Be prepared; the Andrewsarchus will eventually buck you off. The better you handle the steering, the fewer honey drops you’ll need to fully tame it.

Killing an Andrewsarchus yields Hide and Raw Meat. The Hatchet yields the most Hide, while the Pick favours Raw Meat.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
While ridden, the Andrewsarchus gathers multiple resources using its Fire, Toggle Minigun, and Back Kick attacks. Each attack harvests Berries, Crop Seeds, Mejoberry, Narcoberry, Rare Flower, Rare Mushroom, Stimberry, Wood, Cactus Sap, and Fiber. Most gathered resources receive a 10× multiplier. Fiber and Cactus Sap are gathered at 8× efficiency. This makes it highly effective for rapid plant and fiber node farming.
The Andrewsarchus provides -50% weight reduction on Advanced Rifle Bullet. Pair it with a Quetzal or Tusoteuthis to maintain this reduction during aerial transport.
Andrewsarchus has a strong vulnerability to Instant HurtDinos, taking +120% more damage. It also takes +100% more damage from spike walls, making it highly susceptible to defensive traps. Conversely, it is completely immune to Mining Drill Harvest damage. Melee attacks with ProjectileImpactFX deal 50% less damage to it. Focus on exploiting its weaknesses with high-impact melee or explosive setups.

The rider gains a permanent buff while mounted, enhancing sustained utility.
Its Fire, Toggle Minigun, and Back Kick attacks all gather plant-based resources at 10× efficiency.
Fiber and Cactus Sap are gathered at 8× efficiency, making it excellent for supply runs.
It can be carried by Quetzal and Tusoteuthis, enabling safe long-distance transport.
The -50% weight reduction on Advanced Rifle Bullet supports heavy ammunition loads.
