Amargasaurus

Support

Official servers currently have boosted rates! You don't need to change settings in our calculator.

Overview

The Amargasaurus is a large herbivorous support dinosaur. It features a special passive taming method that requires temperature synchronization and cooperative hunting. Once tamed, it excels at gathering a wide variety of plant-based resources and wood. It can be airlifted by Quetzal or Tusoteuthis for rapid deployment across the map.

This dino is primarily used for efficient resource collection in the field, especially in environments where temperature management is critical.

Spawn Locations

Amargasaurus does not currently spawn on any ARK: Survival Ascended map, or spawn data is not yet available.

Taming

Taming an Amargasaurus uses a special passive method. You must consume Calien Soup in hot biomes or Fria Curry in cold biomes to sync your temperature, then approach and interact with the creature. Begin hunting nearby creatures together with the Amargasaurus to fill its taming bar. Keep its health above 85% or the tame will fail. Use the Chain Bola, Bear Trap, or Large Bear Trap to immobilize it before starting. About 12 minutes are needed for taming. Use the calculator below for your settings.

To tame an Amargasaurus, consume Calien Soup (hot environment) or Fria Curry (cold environment) to sync your temperature, then approach and press the interact key to begin. Once synced, hunt and kill nearby creatures alongside the Amargasaurus to fill the taming bar. Keep its health above 85% or the tame fails.

Drops & Harvest Resources

Killing an Amargasaurus yields Sauropod Vertebra, Hide, Raw Meat, Raw Prime Meat, and Keratin. The Hatchet yields the most Hide and Keratin, while the Pick maximizes Raw Meat and Raw Prime Meat.

Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.

Gathering Abilities

While ridden, the Amargasaurus gathers efficiently using multiple attacks. The Tail Swing, Neck Swing, Bite, and Foot Stomp all harvest Berries, Seeds, Mushrooms, Rare Flowers, Rare Mushrooms, Stimberries, Wood, Cactus Sap, and Fiber. Each of these resources is gathered at a 10× multiplier, with Cactus Sap and Fiber at 8×. This makes it one of the most versatile plant gatherers available.

Damage Resistances

The Amargasaurus takes +200% damage from SpikeWall attacks, making it highly vulnerable to spike walls. It also takes +120% from Instant HurtDinos and +55% from Melee DmgMetal RaidDino. Conversely, it has -60% damage taken from fire-based attacks, making it highly resistant to fire. It also has -50% damage from Melee WithProjectileImpactFX and Ranged Turret Small DefensePlant. Amargasaurus Tips & Tricks

The Tail Swing gathers Wood, Berries, and Seeds at a 10× multiplier. Use the Neck Swing for the same high-yield harvest across large clusters of plants. It takes +200% damage from spike walls, so avoid placing it near defensive spikes. Keep its health above 85% during taming or the process fails. It can be carried by Quetzal to preserve its weight reduction while flying. The Foot Stomp attack hits close-range plant nodes with the same 10× efficiency.
