Aberrant Gigantopithecus is a rare herbivore variant found in cave zones. It passively tames and reduces the weight of gathered resources in its inventory, making it ideal for efficient resource farming. It can be airlifted by Argentavis, Karkinos, Quetzal, or Tusoteuthis for rapid deployment across the map.
This dino excels at harvesting plant-based resources and carrying large loads with reduced weight burden. Its compact size allows it to be carried by large flying and aquatic creatures, enabling fast, long-distance transport without losing inventory efficiency.
Aberrant Gigantopithecus spawns in bio-zones and cave systems. It is very rare and appears on 12 ARK maps. The green zones on the spawn map indicate the highest spawn density, making them ideal search areas.

Taming is done passively by feeding it. The best food is Regular Kibble, which grants the highest affinity. Mejoberry also works well for faster taming. Use a Chain Bola or trap it with a Bear Trap, Large Bear Trap, or Plant Species Y to immobilize it safely. The tame takes about 9 Regular Kibble and 2 minutes. Killing an Aberrant Gigantopithecus yields Hide and Raw Meat. The Hatchet yields the most Hide, while the Pick favors Raw Meat.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
While ridden, Aberrant Gigantopithecus harvests efficiently using Punch, Throw, and JumpPunch attacks. These gather Berries, Wood, Fiber, Cactus Sap, and Seeds at 10× efficiency. The Harvest and Grab Dino actions yield Citronal, Longrass, Rockarrot, and Organic Polymer at 2×. It excels at collecting high-value seeds like Mejoberry Seed, Narcoberry Seed, Stimberry Seed, and Plant Species X Seed.
Aberrant Gigantopithecus has a +400% weakness to SpikeWall damage, making spike walls extremely effective in defense. It resists fire damage by -60%, reducing damage from flame-based attacks. Melee attacks with metal weapons deal +55% damage, making them highly effective for taming or combat.
