The Aberrant Dung Beetle is a small, coprophagic variant creature found in the Aberration biome. It is passively tamed and provides significant weight reduction for organic resources, making it a specialized pack animal for resource transport. It can be airlifted by Argentavis, Desmodus, Karkinos, Megalosaurus, Kaprosuchus, Quetzal, or Tusoteuthis for rapid deployment across the map.
Players typically tame it to streamline the transport of harvested organic materials in challenging cave environments.
The Aberrant Dung Beetle spawns in bio-zones, caves, and element zones across 12 ARK maps. It is considered a rare spawn, often found in the deeper, more hazardous regions of the Aberration map where organic nodes are abundant.

The Aberrant Dung Beetle is passively tamed by feeding it directly. The best food is Large Animal Feces, which provides the highest affinity gain. Medium Animal Feces also works well, offering a strong alternative when large feces are scarce. No narcotics are needed. The tame time is about 2 minutes using the best food. Killing an Aberrant Dung Beetle yields Chitin and Raw Meat. The Pick is the best tool for maximizing Raw Meat harvest, while the Dino (Omnivore) yields the most Chitin.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
The Aberrant Dung Beetle has a strong weakness to Instant HurtDinos, taking +120% more damage from them. It is highly resistant to Mining Drill Harvest and Melee WithProjectileImpactFX, taking -50% damage from these sources. It also resists Ranged Turret Small DefensePlant damage by -50%. Exploits involving piercing or explosive damage are especially effective.
