The Aberrant Dodo is a small herbivore variant found in the Aberration biome. It is distinguished by its unique ability to gather a wide variety of plant-based resources while being ridden. This makes it a convenient mobile harvester for Berries, Fiber, Wood, and Seeds. It can be airlifted by Argentavis or Karkinos for fast deployment.
It has slightly reduced Health and increased Melee Damage compared to the standard Dodo, though it does not deal significant damage in combat. Its primary value lies in efficient, passive gathering across hazardous zones where other herbivores cannot safely operate.
Aberrant Dodos spawn commonly in cave systems and the Fertile Zone biome. They appear across 15 ARK maps, with the highest concentration visible in the green zones on the spawn map. Their bioluminescent appearance makes them easy to spot in dark underground areas.

Aberrant Dodos must be knocked out before taming. Use a Bola, Bear Trap, or Plant Species Y to immobilize it first. Then use Tranq Arrows from a Bow or Tranquilizer Darts from a Crossbow to sedate it. Basic Kibble is the best taming food. Mejoberry also works if kibble is unavailable. The process takes about 2 minutes and requires no Narcotics. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Killing an Aberrant Dodo yields Hide and Raw Meat. The Hatchet yields the most Hide, while the Pick favours Raw Meat.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
While ridden, the Aberrant Dodo gathers from multiple categories including Berries, Fiber, Mushrooms, Rare Flowers, Sap, Seeds, and Wood. Its melee attack harvests at 10× efficiency for resources like Mejoberry, Narcoberry, Stimberry, Rare Flower, and Wood. It also collects Cactus Sap and Fiber at 8× efficiency. This broad harvest profile makes it ideal for rapid, low-effort resource farming in dangerous biomes.
The Aberrant Dodo has a +120% weakness to Instant HurtDinos, meaning it takes significantly more damage from sources like the Tek Rex or Arena bosses. It also has a +55% weakness to Melee DmgMetal RaidDino attacks, making metal-tier raid creatures especially dangerous. Conversely, it has a -50% resistance to SpikeWall damage, making spike walls half as effective. Level Health and Melee Damage to improve survivability.

The Aberrant Dodo harvests Mejoberry and Wood at 10× efficiency while ridden, making it one of the fastest plant gatherers in the game.
It can be carried by flyers such as Argentavis and Quetzal, allowing safe transport through dangerous areas.
Its 10× harvest multiplier applies to rare resources like Rare Flower and [[i/rare-mushroom|Rare Mushroom], useful for engram crafting.
Despite its fragility, it has a -50% resistance to SpikeWall damage, making spike traps less effective against it.
It gathers Cactus Sap and Fiber at 8× efficiency, outperforming most herbivores in desert zones.
