The Aberrant Dimorphodon is a small flying carnivore and an Aberration variant of the Dimorphodon. It excels at aerial combat due to its high damage multiplier and fast attack speed. This creature is primarily used for fast hit-and-run tactics against other flyers or weak ground targets. It can be immobilized with a Bola or Bear Trap during taming.
It deals significantly increased damage to other flyers and structures, making it effective in raids. Despite its fragility, its speed and aggression allow for quick strikes. It can be airlifted by Quetzal or Phoenix for fast deployment across the map.
Aberrant Dimorphodon spawns in cave biomes across 8 ARK maps. It is considered rare, so sightings are infrequent. The green zones on the spawn map indicate the highest spawn density, typically near cave entrances or narrow tunnels where it patrols.

Tame the Aberrant Dimorphodon using the knockout method. Use a Bola or Bear Trap to immobilize it, then sedate it with Tranq Arrows from a Crossbow or Tranquilizer Darts from a Longneck Rifle. The best food is Raw Mutton, which provides the fastest taming effectiveness. Raw Prime Meat also works well.
The taming process takes around 6 minutes and requires approximately 19 Narcotics at level 220. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Killing an Aberrant Dimorphodon yields Hide and Raw Meat. The Hatchet yields the most Hide, while the Pick maximizes Raw Meat harvest.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
The Aberrant Dimorphodon has a +120% weakness to Instant HurtDinos, meaning it takes drastically more damage from dino-based instant-damage sources. It is also weak to explosions and metal melee attacks, taking +55% more damage. Spike walls and ranged turrets deal 50% less damage, making them less effective. Focus on high-damage flyers or ground attackers to exploit its fragility.

Numbers reflect base melee at level 1, 100% TE, no imprint. The damage calculator lets you scale by melee %, server multipliers, and pick a specific structure for exact hit counts.
The Aberrant Dimorphodon deals 6% more melee damage than the standard Dimorphodon due to its variant modifier.
It takes 4% less damage from all sources due to its reduced health multiplier, though this is offset by lower total HP.
Use it in swarms to overwhelm larger flyers, as its fast attack speed and aggression trigger quickly.
Its head has a 3x damage multiplier, making headshots highly effective for KO or combat.
