The Aberrant Ankylosaurus is a herbivorous variant with reduced Health and increased Melee Damage compared to its standard form. It provides a -85% weight reduction on Metal, making it invaluable for resource transport. It can be airlifted by Argentavis, Karkinos, Quetzal, or Tusoteuthis for rapid deployment to remote bases.
This dino is primarily tamed to carry large quantities of Metal efficiently, especially when paired with flyers for long-distance hauling.
The Aberrant Ankylosaurus spawns in cave systems and bio-zones across 12 ARK maps. It is very rare, so players should focus on cave-rich regions like the Aberration map. Green zones on the spawn map indicate the highest density of spawns.

Taming requires a knockout method using tranquilizing weapons. The best food is Regular Kibble, which maximizes taming effectiveness. Mejoberry also works if kibble is unavailable. Use Bow, Crossbow, or Compound Bow with Tranq Arrow to sedate it. Immobilize with Chain Bola or a Bear Trap to prevent escape.
Taming takes about 41 minutes with 16 kibble. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Killing an Aberrant Ankylosaurus yields Hide, Raw Meat, and Keratin. The Hatchet yields the most Hide and Keratin, while the Pick maximizes Raw Meat.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
While ridden, the Aberrant Ankylosaurus gathers resources through its tail and bite attacks. The tail attack harvests up to 10× Berries, Wood, Mejoberry, and other seeds. It also gathers Stone at 3× efficiency. The bite gathers Fiber and Cactus Sap at 8×, and various berries and seeds at 10×. This makes it highly effective for farming plant-based resources and Wood.
Reduces Metal weight by -85%. Pair with Argentavis or Quetzal to maintain this reduction during aerial transport.
It takes +120% damage from structures like spike walls, making them extremely effective for defense. It is highly resistant to fire damage, taking 60% less. Melee attacks with metal weapons deal +55% damage, and explosions deal +50% damage. Avoid using fire-based weapons as they are significantly less effective.

Numbers reflect base melee at level 1, 100% TE, no imprint. The damage calculator lets you scale by melee %, server multipliers, and pick a specific structure for exact hit counts.
The tail attack gathers Berries, Mejoberry, and Wood at 10× efficiency, making it excellent for rapid farming. It takes +120% damage from spike walls, so avoid placing it near such defenses. The -85% Metal weight reduction is retained when carried by Argentavis or Karkinos. Its increased melee damage improves harvest yields on breakable nodes. Use it in caves to gather rare flowers and mushrooms efficiently. It is weak to explosion damage, taking +50% more, so avoid explosive traps when moving it.
