Deviation O-021 is a large figurine crafted from boxwood, known as a nutcracker. It is approximately 2.8m tall and weighs around 1300kg. It depicts a soldier in 19th-century British military garb, complete with a black top hat.
Deviation O-021 can move independently and is roughly equal in intelligence to an average adult human, although its long-term memory is limited. The Deviation appears unable to fully comprehend its own state of existence. It does not require food or water, but does need regular sleep.

Deviation O-021 is surrounded by an invisible force field which helps it to overcome some of the limitations of its own wooden body. For example, the Deviation has two wooden spheres for hands, but can use its force field to grasp objects and perform tasks that would normally require fine motor skills. The Deviation also uses this field to hold its own limbs together.

Deviation O-021's primary trait is its ability to manipulate physical space. With a simple gesture, the Deviation is able to summon a weapon from some unknown location. These weapons are oversized versions of genuine weapon types scaled up for the Deviation's height, and are more powerful than their conventional counterparts. Deviation O-021 has excellent mental fortitude and above-average proficiency in using firearms, and a good working knowledge of 19th century military strategy.

Deviation O-021 claims to have forgotten its own name or age, but insists that it is a soldier serving in the at the rank of Sergeant. The subject believes that the war between and has reached a critical juncture, and believes itself to be following orders to guard a vital strategic outpost in south .

Whenever the Deviation wakes up, it will take up its post outside the first building it comes across. The Deviation is currently standing guard in room no. in , where it is being secured.

Deviation O-021 insists on being addressed as "Sergeant" and addresses researchers as "Commander," regardless of gender or age. The Deviation complies with most instructions from researchers, but will refuse to abandon its post under any circumstances.

Securement Procedures:
Do: Secure Deviation O-021 in a securement suite of level II or higher, lined with bulletproof steel plating, equipped with an anti-explosion door capable of withstanding a blast of at least 40 kilopascals. The securement suite should be decorated in the style of a 19th-century military outpost.

If the Deviation exhibits seizure-like convulsions or faints during a conversation, evacuate the securement chamber immediately and lock the door.
