Overview

Deinonychus is a small carnivore known for its wall-running ability. It excels at scaling vertical surfaces quickly, allowing access to elevated areas and fast traversal across cliffs. Players tame it for rapid mobility and combat agility in tight terrain.

It can be airlifted by Argentavis or Desmodus for fast deployment. It is also transportable by Karkinos, Megalosaurus, Kaprosuchus, Quetzal, and Tusoteuthis.

Taming

Deinonychus is tamed by stealing and incubating its egg. The best food is Simple Kibble, which provides the fastest taming effectiveness. Raw Mutton also works well if kibble is unavailable.

It must be immobilized first using a Bola, Bear Trap, or Plant Species Y. The process takes about 15 minutes with optimal settings. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Drops & Harvest Resources

Killing a Deinonychus yields Hide and Raw Meat. The Hatchet harvests the most Hide, while the Pick maximizes Raw Meat yield.

Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.

Damage Resistances

Deinonychus has a strong vulnerability to Instant HurtDinos, taking +120% more damage from such sources. It is highly resistant to Mining Drill Harvest, taking no damage. Melee attacks from metal raid dinosaurs exploit a +55% weakness. Focus on Health and Melee Damage for combat roles.
