Full maturation from baby to adult takes ~21 hours and 2 minutes (1x rate), progressing at a medium pace. During the baby phase (0–10%), hand-feed it directly. From 10% onward (juvenile), it can eat from a Feeding Trough.

Raising a baby X-Otter involves three maturation phases: Baby (0–10%) lasts ~126 min and requires constant hand-feeding. Juvenile (10–50%) spans ~8h - it can eat from a Trough now. Adolescent (50–100%) takes ~11h - continues eating from troughs, nearly fully grown.
Don't skip imprinting - each successful imprint boosts the X-Otter's stats, and hitting 100% grants a 30% combat bonus when the imprinter rides it. Imprint requests include cuddling, walks, and specific kibble - check the wiki for which kibble to stockpile.

During the Baby phase (0-10%), you must hand-feed or use a Maewing to nurse. From Juvenile (10%+), dinos can eat from a Feeding Trough on their own. Use Preserving Salt in troughs to double spoil times.
Found throughout the ARKs, the X-Otter is a tamable, piscivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended. It falls within the Variant classification.
Health-wise, the X-Otter sits at 39 base, making it extremely fragile. With 105% base Melee Damage, the X-Otter has solid damage output. Stamina sits at 180 base, providing decent staying power. Weight capacity starts at 30, giving it minimal inventory space.
This is a passive tame: no tranquilizers needed. Get close without startling it, then offer food from your last hotbar slot. Its preferred food is Raw Mutton.
As a tame, the X-Otter earns its keep through resource gathering, making tedious farming runs much faster. Breeding is via live birth rather than eggs, simplifying the process. Killing a wild X-Otter yields 4 base XP. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.84 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
